Does Post University find preceptors for NP students?

Post's catalog makes each MSN nurse practitioner student responsible for selecting the clinical site and preceptor for every clinical experience, and the Clinical Coordinator approves both. Our desk does the searching so the preceptor you bring fits Post's rules.

When do I need my preceptor confirmed?

Before the term starts. Post removes students from a clinical course when the preceptor agreement letter, the affiliation agreement, CastleBranch compliance and the other packet items are not complete by the end of Week 1, and some state boards want notice up to 60 days ahead.

How many clinical hours are in Post's NP programs?

Post's 2025-26 catalog lists 540 precepted clinical hours for the FNP and AGPCNP and 630 for the PMHNP. The hours run through four preceptorship courses for the FNP and AGPCNP and five for the PMHNP, one per 8-week term.

Who can precept a Post NP student?

A clinician with a current unencumbered license and national certification, a master's or doctorate, and at least a year of experience. Post recommends an NP for at least half the courses and allows physicians (MD or DO).

Do you help Post students outside Connecticut?

Yes. Post's NP students live all over the country, and we search wherever you live, in a state where you hold your RN license and Post's disclosure answers Yes for your specialization.
